Ganesh Vandana - Down Syndrome Parents’ Society

A dancer in a blue Bharatanatyam costume with red and gold border is seen standing at the center of the stage, her back towards the audience and hands held high in Alapadma mudra (a fully opened lotus) and white flowers adorning her hair bun. She turns around, opening her arms wide and revealing her golden ornaments including a Maang tikka, necklace, chains, bangles and hip chain. She moves her body right and left gracefully with her arms up and down, hands in Alapadma mudra (a fully opened lotus), legs crossed.

She performs a few highlight Bharatanatyam steps with hands alternating in Katakamukha mudra (opening of a bracelet : bringing together the index finger, middle finger and thumb), Alapadma mudra (a fully opened lotus) and body in Ara mandi (heels point towards each other, while toes point to the opposite side). She circles and performs the initial steps of moving her body right and left gracefully with her arms up and down, hands in Alapadma mudra (a fully opened lotus), legs crossed.

Her hands are engaged in swift and graceful Bharatanatyam movements and her eyes are very expressive, communicating with the audience, while lip syncing with the song.

She sits down on the floor on her folded right knees and her left knees folded towards the outside. She moves her hands in graceful Bharatanatyam mudras that resemble a flowing river before she finally goes to her formation by taking her hands above her head and folding her hands over her chest.
