Saideep Gupta's "Humble" is a captivating acrylic painting, sized 10' x 14', created on a handmade sheet. The artist's perspective infuses the artwork with a profound sense of simplicity, and humbleness as per the artist's description, portraying lush green mountains that embody nature's enduring humility. Despite their towering presence, the mountains remain unassuming, creating a serene and respectful depiction of the natural world. Framed with thick white borders and a thin black border, the painting is divided into three horizontal portions, each representing a distinct layer—foreground, middle ground, and background. Despite the appearance of being on the same plane, these layers are characterized by vibrant colours, including green, dark green, pink, yellow, and white. The foreground, occupying the bottom, features a contrasting shrubbery. A rich green bush spans 2/3rds of the space horizontally, with smooth lines, while the remaining space is adorned with blades of dark green long and thin grass. Behind this, a light green lake reflects the moonlight, created with skilful use of white on pastel green to depict the reflection. The middle ground, double the size of the foreground, reveals a darker green landscape. The brush strokes are visible only in this middle ground. Two identical hills edge in from the left side stacked one on top of the other. The moonlight gracefully reflects off this layer as well, adding to the tranquil ambience. The background portrays two more hills standing tall against a pink sky. One hill is darker than the other, both finished in varying shades of green, with the lighter one exhibiting an almost yellowish-green hue. Beyond the greens of the hills, the sky is a pink blush with a yellow possible horizon line that is broad. A broad yellow horizon line, slightly above the horizon, is adorned with a white moon.  The sky around the moon is also a shade of a pink blush. Above the horizon line, silhouettes of seven birds gracefully soar in the sky, with six birds of similar size and one smaller bird. "Humble" serves as a visual reminder to embrace simplicity and humility in our lives, drawing viewers into a contemplative appreciation of the natural world. The calming tones, serene beauty, and thoughtful composition convey a deep respect for the grandeur of nature and the importance of humility in our own existence all executed with what seems like a child-like simplicity.
